ZoologyCon

An International Congress of Zoology

organized by the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History

ZoologyCon is an international scientific congress dedicated to contemporary research in animal biology. Organized by the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History in Bucharest, in partnership with the Romanian Academy and the University of Bucharest, the congress brings together researchers working across zoological disciplines.

Since its first edition in 2009, ZoologyCon has provided a structured forum for scientific exchange covering biodiversity, systematics, evolutionary biology, paleoecology, ecology, conservation, zoological collections, research infrastructures, and the interaction between zoology and society.

Each edition is held in Bucharest and combines invited lectures, regular oral presentations, and poster sessions within a clearly defined thematic framework.

The congress promotes:

  • rigorous research grounded in explicit research questions and data
  • integrative approaches across classical and modern methodologies
  • the role of zoological collections and museums as research infrastructures
  • informed dialogue between professional researchers and citizen scientists
